Board Charge to the Facilities and Bond Committee:

1.     Oversee the Long Range Facilities Study being conducted by DOWA:

a.      Receive and review updates from DOWA on the progress of the facilities study, including an analysis of capacity and educational program

b.     Ensure that DOWA is providing ample opportunity for public and staff input and information sharing as a part of the analysis for each school site

c.     Work with DOWA to provide a final report to the Board

2.     Hold regular meetings of the Facilities and Bond Committee according to this basic schedule:

a.      August- Elect Chair and establish operating procedures of the committee.  Review draft facilities and seismic report.

b.     September:  Establish the needs of the district by reviewing the draft of the facilities study and capacity study; discuss pros and cons

c.     October:  Plan for community outreach, conduct forums, provide other means for community input

d.     November:  Discuss bond strategies; prepare for Board presentation

e.      January/February:  Review and verify needs, discuss and prioritize options

f.       March/April:  Conduct a final review of community input, prioritized options, prepare for Board presentation

g.     April:  Final presentation to the Board

3.     Review demographic data and determine relevance for facilities planning.

4.     Assist the Board with communicating the facilities needs of the district to the community.

5.  Consider increased use of sustainable energy sources.
