Web sites on School facilities & design

1.) The Collabrative for High Performance Schools. This is a California based organization of educatiors and school boards who's  "goal is to facilitate the design of high performance schools: environments that are not only energy efficient, but also healthy, comfortable, well lit, and containing the amenities needed for a quality education." I have found this site very helpful and easy to understand.

their web site is http://www.chps.net

2.) The Council of Educational Facility Planners (CEFPI)

their web site is http://www.cefpi.org

this is a national organization that creates educational facilties standards and provides info on school building standards. The Council is a professional association whose sole mission is improving the places where children learn. CEFPI members - individuals, institutions and corporations - are actively involved in planning, designing, building, equipping and maintaining schools and colleges.

3.) The National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities (US Dept. of Education). They have Guidelines for K-12 school planning.

Their Web site is www.edfacilities.org

4.) Sustainable Buildings Industry Council. They put out a High Performance School Building Resource and Strategy Guide.

Their Web site is www.sbicouncil.org.

5.) The US Enviormental Protection Agency has information on Indoor Air Quality for schools and Energy usage.

These sites are www.epa.gov/iaq/schools and www.energystar.gov

6.)The US Department of Energy has information on EnergySmart schools.

This site is www.eren.doe.goc/energysmartschools U.S

7.) I also think the committee should know the Heschong/Mahone Group's Daylighting Study which linked natural daylight with education success. I  "googled" this study and you can find posted/published on the PEEC web site (Place Based Educational Collabrative)

Rene from DOWA may have others she may wish to add. I have found these to be very helpful & informative.

Thanks.
